Itinerary
Arival to PEM and Chuncho
Our flight arrives to Puerto Maldonado at mid morning and transfer to Chuncho Lodge by car and our first experience by boat. Once there, a night walk is a possibility looking for Owls or insects and reptiles.
Chuncho Claylick
Early morning we start a boat ride for 45 minutes aprox. in order to reach the Clay lick and wait silently for the sun to come up and the parrots and Macaws to start arriving. Regularly up to hundreds parakeet and parrots come first in noisy flocks and once they are gone, Macaws start arriving in pairs, gathering slowly with attempts to go to the clay. At midmorning, once the spectacle is over, we go back to the lodge by boat where jaguars are regularly seen. After the lunch at the lodge, we may take a break to rest and start a walk to visit the 130 ft. canopy tower, an excelent infrestracture that provides 360° view over the Forest, where we can expererience canopy flocks, primates and macaws flying at aye level and visit the trails.
Boat ride to Sandoval lake
After the breakfast, we take the way back to Puerto Maldonado by car and boat. A beautiful trail takes us to the Sandoval Lake to enjoy the aquatic fauna, egrets, herons, Toucans, Macawsamong others are common residentes here including several species of monkeys, Giant Anteaters and a family of the emblematic Giant Otters all of them, residents in Sandoval. After lunch, we would visit the surrounding trails or going back to the lake for one of the most beatiful sunset.

After an early walk and breakfast at the lodge, we will take our boat and cross the lake towards Puerto Maldonado and take you to the airport for the flight out back home or connect another tour.
