Located at the intersection of the Andes and the Amazon Rainforest, Machu Picchu offers a unique opportunity to experience the convergence of two different ecosystems. During this two-day tour, you will have the chance to explore the surrounding areas of Machu Picchu, which are known to be excellent birding spots. The bird species that you may encounter during your excursion include the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock, Masked Fruiteater, Sclater´s Tyrannulet, among many others.
In addition to birding, you will also have the opportunity to take an interpretative tour of Machu Picchu Sanctuary, one of the 7 New World Wonders. Itinerary
Arrival and transfer to Sacred Valley
We pick you up from hotel or Airport in cusco.
Depending on your arrival time, we can be birding along the way towards the Sacred Valley in the Highland lakes of Chinchero where waterfawl is great. Interesting birds such as Silvery Grebe, Puna Teal, Andean Duck, Yellow-billed Pintail, Chilean Flamingo, additionally we may stop for the spectacular endemic Bearded Mountaineer.
Night in Ollantaytambo.
Machupicchu full day.
The train will take us to Aguas calientes. Short birding around the town and after the lunch we will take a 20 minutes bus ride to finally visit one of the most famous 7 New World Wonders. Machu Picchu, an architectural marvel perched amidst the Andes, radiates an indescribable beauty. With its ancient stone citadel, nestled amidst lush terraces and overlooking a breathtaking mountainous backdrop, it's a place where history, nature, and human ingenuity converge to create an awe-inspiring spectacle. This UNESCO World Heritage Site enchants visitors with its mystical aura and unparalleled charm, leaving an enduring impression of the sheer beauty of ancient Peru, with more than 200 structures constructed covering more than 30 hectares over peaks and slopes makes of Machupicchu a dramatic experience. Birding possibilities are Rust-and-Yellow Tanager, White-tipped Swift, Tricolored Brush-finch and the beatuful Inca Wren (Endemic) among others.

Birding at Machupicchu and back to Cusco
After an early breakfast, we will leave the town and bird along the rail road, searching some speciallities such as Torrent Duck Green-and-white Hummingbird (E), Inca Flyactcher (E), Masked Fruiteater (E), Highland Motmot, White-bellied Hummingbird, Black-capped Tyrannulet, Bolivian tyrannulet, Sclaters tyrannulet, Ocellated Piculet, Variable Antshrike, Andean solitaire, Black-streaked Puffbird, etc. Additionally colorful tanagers and eventually some migrants are commonly found here. After it, we go back to Aguas Calientes for a Lunch and finally retoun back to Cusco by train.
